Big Mike has been doing the Drive Home since September 2003. KLBJ also keeps him busy with live broadcasts and producing all those promos and concert spots you hear on-the-air. He's a live music junky, so you'll most likely see him checkin' out some Local Licks at a venue around Austin. In fact, he moved to the Capital City on the first day of SXSW 2000! You might say he kinda likes his tunes. In his spare time, he is somewhat of an amateur photographer, he collects Native American items, and is a dog-lover. He has travelled to several cities around the country to see live music, as well including Bonnaroo and the Warren Haynes Xmas Jam. During the last year, KLBJ has sent him to the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas, to Chicago to interview Metallica and to the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Every year, he raises money for the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life", a walking relay event which benefits cancer research and early detection. He donated ten inches of his own hair towards "Locks of Love", which makes wigs for kids who have lost their locks to illness or burns. And he continues to do "hair raising" events to further collect hair for the charity.
